Hike #12 of 2022.  6.0 miles / 52.0 miles YTD

I used some PTO again this afternoon since Dan is off on Mondays. We are so fortunate to have so many amazing trails in such close proximity to where we live! This is another one that we did not even have to leave the city limits to get to. We did have to walk the paved pedestrian trail a little while before getting to the hiking trail though.

The trail is called the Kentucky Lucky Chicken Trail (I would be interested to know how it got the name). It is a loop and another mountain bike trail. We went up the shortest/steepest way and then took the long gradual decline down. It is always interesting to look down on the city and get a broad perspective of where things are in relation to each other (especially now that we are more familiar with the area and have been on trails in a lot of different areas surrounding the city). We could not actually see our apartment building because it was down over the other side of a ridge, but we could see the buildings on this side of that ridge.
There aren't a lot of formations along the trail and there aren't any significant obstacles (it is a mountain biking trail, afterall) so the distant view is what we focused on. But that is nice too because you have to look down at the ground so much on trails with numerous obstacles that you miss out on some of what there is to see around you. This was another one where, once we got off the paved pedestrian trail (which gets a lot of use - especially from cyclists), we did not see another person - just the way we like it!

This rock had the perfect hole in it to make a chair.

I like to get a photo of each of us with Summit on our hikes but this one didn't have a lot of formations to take photos with.

I didn't realize this trail was a loop - I thought it was an out and back. We passed this on the way out and I did not take a photo with it. But it was past the point where the loop met back up with the part that we hiked in on so I was able to get it on the way out afterall.

I have no idea how many photos we have of different angles of this mountain!
