Hike #15 of 2022.  5.0 miles / 65.5 miles YTD

This trail has dinosaur tracks but we did not come across them. I Googled it after the fact (which we should have done before going) and it sounds like they were actually very close to the start of the trail. I have an idea of where they were based on the description, so we'll have to go back again. (Note that we went back on March 6 and found them. They were where I thought they'd be, based on what I found on Google. And there were some really big ones! If we had known where to be looking for them originally, we never would have missed them.)

We started out on the trail (which is actually a very short trail; although, it connects up with others), but then we climbed up to go out on a ledge and then ended up just exploring around the top of what you can see in the third photo below, until we found a place that we could get back down with Summit.

She really is very brave and adventurous but there were two times on this hike that she did not want to go across/up/down something. There is almost no forcing her to do something she doesn't want to do. But, with enough patience and proding, she will almost always eventually do what we need her to.

This one, however, Summit was totally fine with but I could not get myself to do. I stayed where I took this photo from but they jumped across and went out on the next rock. This photo was of them coming back to me.

Inside a slot canyon.

I did slip and take a good tumble as we were scrambling down some boulders on the way out. Dan said - by the time I turned around and saw you, your feet were already above your head! I was nervous about how that might feel today but it does seem to be okay. Exploring / scrambling is so much more fun than just walking down the trail.

Dan did some running in the sand with Summit (on leash) so she got to "go full greyhound mode" a few times, which she loves!
